Thailand
The Buddhist's Way
One of the most rewarding opportunities a visitor can have in Southeast Asia is to visit a local temple and talk with a Buddhist monk. Friendly, open and welling with insights, many monks can speak English, and are more than happy to converse with you about the different aspects of their faith, lifestyle and their chosen path.
AutoVenture’s private, guided tour of Chiang Mai, an exotic gem of a city in Northwestern Thailand, knows how to bring you closer to the culture. After spending time gaining wisdom from a monk at one of the city’s 30 different temples, your guide will take you to the mountain of Doi Suthep to visit Chiang Mai’s sacred temple, Wat Phrathat. If you’re feeling hearty, you can climb the 309 steps to reach it, or take a tram, where you will be rewarded with a superb, panoramic view over the city.
In addition to the temples, there are other, more worldly pleasures. Spend time haggling at in the famous Night Bazaar. Breathe in the rich fragrance of Thai orchids at the National Museum and Botanic Garden. And, for a quirky treat, check out the largest insects imaginable at the Museum of World Insects and Natural Wonders.
Another memorable, don’t-miss adventure is the Patara Elephant Farm, which rescues these sensitive, intelligent creatures and teaches willing visitors how to care for an elephant. You can learn how to ride on its neck, communicate using different spoken commands and ride bareback to visit forests, waterfalls or local temples. Chiang Mai is an experience like no other, and AutoVenture takes you there.
For those unfamiliar with Thailand, an AutoVenture guided tour is the surest way of getting closest to the culture, and of capturing an unforgettable land.
