Half Day CityAuckland, New Zealand’s largest city and one of the world’s most unique, is the setting for this 4 hour sightseeing tour. Straddling an isthmus between the Tasman Sea and the Pacific Ocean, the city has two harbors on two major bodies of water. In between can be found the glittering Westhaven Marina, where the largest gathering of private vessels in the Southern Hemisphere gives credence to Auckland’s “City of Sails” nickname. Adjacent to the marina is the Harbor Bridge, which affords great views of the city’s harbor, and forms its western boundary. In downtown Auckland, visit the Domain Park, the city’s oldest and one of its largest. Within its over 150 acres of green-space are forested pathways, gardens, and playing fields for soccer, rugby and cricket. The Domain is most famous, however, for the War Memorial Museum, which document’s New Zealand’s history. The final stop on the tour, the Museum holds collections ranging from Maori artifacts to exhibits on New Zealand’s role in the World Wars. 4 hrs |
