Half Day Appian Way

Experience one of the most enduring icons of Rome, the Appian Way, on this 4 hour excursion through Christian monuments and Roman ruins. Start in Rome with the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore and the Archbasilica of St. John Lateran. The Lateran complex was home to the Papacy before the construction of the Vatican Palaces, and houses the “Holy Stairs” from biblical Jerusalem. The Appian Way then begins in earnest at the Baths of the Emperor Caracalla. Built during the early 3rd century CE, the ruins of the complex remain impressive, littered with remnants of spectacular mosaic tiling and decoration.
