Nearby is the Rundetarn, or round tower, where panoramic views of the city can be had atop its spiral ramps. Finish at the waterfront with the Little Mermaid statue. The legacy and luxury of the Danish Royal patrimony forms the focus of this 3 hour tour of Copenhagen. Start at the Danish National Museum, which chronicles the history and culture of Denmark and the Danish people. Full Day Castles & North Sealand

Although most travelers to Denmark focus their attention on Copenhagen, the surrounding countryside on the island of Sealand is full of natural beauty and intriguing attractions. On this 8 hour day trip from Copenhagen, visit the castles of Fredriksborg and Kronborg, all the while enjoying serene beech forests and quaint, picturesque Scandinavian villages. Kronborg is interesting both in its own history and the fiction it inspired. Built as a castle in the early 15th century, it was remade into a Renaissance fortress by the 17th century. In the English speaking world, the castle has been immortalized as Elsinore, the setting of Shakespeare’s Hamlet. Fredriksborg, a red brick renaissance masterpiece, was built for the Kings of Denmark in the early 17th century. Rising directly from the waters of a country lake, the current palace features a large range of period decorations and artwork.

Full Day Hans Christian Anderson

Perhaps Denmark’s most famous citizen, Hans Christian Andersen is known worldwide for his fairy tales, loved by both children and adults. His legacy is memorialized in his hometown of Odense, the centerpiece of this spectacular 8 hour trip through the Danish Islands. Departing from Copenhagen, stop first in the city of Roskilde in central Sealand. Here you will find the Viking Ship Museum, with a series of impressively intact warships raised from the bay, and the Roskilde Cathedral, resting place of Danish monarchs since the 15th century.  To reach Odense, located on the island of Funen, the journey crosses the Great Belt Bridge, the 3rd largest bridge in the world.  In Odense are several monuments marking the formative years of Andersen, as well as a museum in what is regarded as his birthplace.  On the return trip to Copenhagen, make a final stop at Egeskov Castle, a romantic moated castle and manor that provides an interesting array of exhibits to complement its natural beauty.
