Full Day Glendalough & Avoca

Although Dublin is in many ways quintessentially Irish, the true national identity resides in the countryside. Experience Ireland’s natural majesty on this 8 hour journey to valleys of County Wicklow. The first stop is the village of Avoca, known for its scenic riverside and weaving traditions. Quaint, picturesque buildings have led to its featuring in several British and Irish television programs. The main destination of the tour, however, is Glendalough, nestled at the meeting place of two green vales, and named for the lakes found there. Originally founded by St. Kevin in the 6th century, the settlement is one of the most important monastic sites in Ireland. Today, the remains of several impressive stone buildings litter the valley floor, including stone roofed churches, the arched gatehouse, and the 30 meter tall Round Tower.
